Work on the comedy parody Epic Movie has been completed, featuring a number of visual effects shots we repaired.

November, 2006

Work on the holiday movie Deck the Halls has been finished and the picture was released for Thanksgiving audiences. We did extensive wire removal work, much of which involved actors.

October, 2006

We are pleased to expand our multimedia capabilities this year by offering Quicktime VR panorama photography and authoring. Our first project in this area was completed for
Ogden to help them promote a massive renovation project in downtown Milwaukee. We are also working on a variety of new videos and animations for the new season of Marquette Basketball.

September, 2006

We've been producing a number of 3D animations. LCD marketing company 3rd Millennium required some new logo work, which you can view below. In addition, we're excited to join the team helping to promote
Press Cocktail Soda, a unique Milwaukee-based beverage company.

August, 2006

Another feature film has been released which contains our work.
Idiocracy, by Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill), has over 20 shots worked on by Backlot Imaging, ranging from colorizing effects to monitor composites. Be sure to check out our demo reels above to see all our film work in motion. We've also been revamping the website for the Thomas Wackman Group.

July, 2006

We've completed another series of visual effects shots for Hollywood, this time for the feature
My Super Ex-Girlfriend, involving rotoscoping, digital set extensions, tracking, and keying. We've also enjoyed working with Cramer-Krasselt on the new Kohls back to school online press kit. You can view the results here.

June, 2006

There has been a flurry of interactive multimedia work lately. We've enjoyed leveraging the new Flash 8 video technologies to incorporate larger, clearer video and audio streams for efficient-bitrate distribution on the Internet, CD, and DVD.

May, 2006

As the summer meeting season ramps up, we've been devoting much of our attention towards business theater. We combine our high-resolution graphics capabilities with
Trimarq Communication's extensive staging expertise to produce ultra-widescreen events. Utilizing large venues such as the Pettit National Ice Center, we can fill stages over 80 feet wide with over 3000 pixels of picture resolution. An array of high-powered projectors creates crystal-clear combinations of animation, video, slides, and real-time speaker magnification.

April, 2006

We have just completed work on a new website for
Carnevor (Flash 8 required), a high-end steakhouse in downtown Milwaukee. The design makes heavy use of 3D animation and was both fun and challenging to create. We have been working with Rockstar Design on this and and other projects for their client the Thomas Wackman Group. Click on the link below to take a look at the site. We have also been busy with corporate projects this month, including 3D animations for one of our warehouse management clients.

March, 2006

It has been really exciting to work with celebrated Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Alcondez to create a new animated fanfare for his film production company. This new 3D animation will be attached to his upcoming American releases on 35mm.

February, 2006

We've got some interesting new interactive projects in the works, such as a program for the
American Cancer Society which includes a small quiz and full narration. We've also just completed a series of 3D animations for one of our Chicago clients.

January, 2006

The new year looks promising, and we're pleased to announce that we've delivered our first theatrical spot in coordination with
Marcus Theatres. The 30 second AT&T spot was delivered above 2K resolution, for both scope (2.35:1) and flat (1.85:1) theatrical presentation. An alternate, 15 second version was created as part of the Lobby Channel. You can watch both by clicking below.

December, 2005

The end of the year was marked by a flurry of new and updated interactive projects for clients such as
Aurora Health Care and Milwaukee Electric Tool. We also provided some new animations for Spacesaver, which you can view below.

November, 2005

Our sister company
Trimarq Communications produces corporate theater events using ultra-widescreen media technology. This year they asked us to create a number of 3D animations that were added to an opening video module for one such event. The theme was "Adapt and Thrive" and they wanted to incorporate a transition in imagery from a dinosaur to an eagle. Click on the thumbnail below for a short segment of the video. This was originally delivered via an array of projectors, on a screen over 50 feet wide, in high-definition.

October, 2005

One of the more interesting projects we've completed recently was a pre-game video to be used by
Marquette University Men's Basketball The concept involved making the players "larger than life", towering above local Milwaukee landmarks. We shot them on a greenscreen and used various compositing illusions to pull off the effect. Click on the thumbnail below to watch the video! (Quicktime 6 required)

September, 2005

Kris Hokanson and Associates approached us to deliver some new corporate branding graphics for Ellsworth Adhesives, to be utilized in a wide variety of media, ranging up to 20,000 pixels wide. We're also working to expand the visual effects services offered to our L.A. clients, and to that end have executed a series of rotoscoping tests that deal with replicating crowds of extras. And the most exciting development has been the "lobby channel" concepts we're working on with Marcus Theatres. You can see the "mini site" we've started here (Flash player required).

August, 2005

We've been busy with a number of interactive CD projects. We put together an electronic media kit for the Sentricon System for Dow Agro Sciences. We're also updating all 8 Aurora residency and fellowship discs for 2006. Finally, Gordon Aluminum requested a CD version of some of their website content, and some new animations as well.

July, 2005

A new series of animations has been completed for Marquette University Athletics, to highlight their transition into the Big East Conference. It also incorporates a 3D rendering of their new athletics monogram. Meanwhile, we completed image restorations on over 650 historical photographs for a new high-definition program coming to Milwaukee Public Television this winter. Many of the images were over 100 years old and in various states of disrepair. We also provided high-def fire animations to complement certain image sequences.

June, 2005

This spring we did work for a new feature film, Rebound, for 20th Century Fox. On around 20 shots, digital cosmetic repairs and dust/blemish removals were completed for star Martin Lawrence. Another highlight has been working on a pair of TV spots for law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek. Since there was no photography in this script, both 30 second spots were created entirely in a tapeless DI environment, using high-resolution 3D graphics. You can click here to see the spots compressed for the web.

May, 2005

The tenth interactive CD has been completed for Aurora Health Care, this time for the nursing program. Together with the pharmacy, residency, and fellowship discs this completes the 2005 series. Work is already beginning on revisions for the 2006 year. We've also been busy developing technology for 3D planogram visualizations with H2D; one of our "Home Depot" style renderings is previewed below. And together with Rockstar Design we've worked on a media kit for the Thomas Wackman Group, to help promote and expand their many innovative nightclubs.

April, 2005

You can now head over to www.gordonaluminum.com for a look at the new Gordon Aluminum Flash website we've been developing. We've also provided video and powerpoint media for the Young President's Organization. In addition, we've been approached to contribute short station identity 3D animations for a new high-def cable content channel in development, to be called The Adventure Channel. This has been an opportunity to flex our new digital intermediate workflow, combining scanned film elements and high-resolution computer graphics in a tapeless environment, to deliver content in a 1080/24p digital master which could be down-converted and adapted to any of the current High Definition broadcast standards.

March, 2005

Our recent work with Marquette University's Athletics Department has culminated in a Dual-DVD set celebrating the extraordinary accomplishments of the '54 - '55 basketball team. Over 4 hours of content packed with graphics, 3D animations, and interactive menus were included. Also of interest, in association with H2D, we've been converting hospital floor plans to 3D overheads and walkthroughs to interactively demonstrate various safety and security systems in action on a large scale.

February, 2005

Some Backlot Imaging effects work was broadcast to a large audience on February 6th. During Super Bowl XXXIX, viewers across Wisconsin saw a new commercial for the Wisconsin Lottery Badger 5 game. Backlot completed the effects work for the spot, including set extensions, compositing, and the animation of the dancing badger. In addition, we are preparing graphics for a client out of our Chicago office for use in video and meeting support. This work includes some 3D tracking work to add logos. Finally, we are pleased to announce that we have once again expanded our services, and can now offer DVD authoring. Our first DVD authoring project has just rolled off the shelf.

January, 2005

Our most recent feature film effects effort was released to cinemas on January 14th, 2005. Elektra, starring Jennifer Garner and inspired by the comic book, features fast-paced action sequences and martial arts, performed with the safety of stunt wires and rigs. Backlot Imaging contributed digital wire-removal work to several scenes, as well as some garment repair. Also, the first edition of a new media kit for Milwaukee Electric Tool has been created, showcasing their revolutionary new cordless tool technology. We look forward to expanding on this project in the future.
